August 6-12, 2018
Today is the day that we have been waiting for. We couldn’t understand our emotions. We are so happy but at the same time nervous. It’s my first time to travel abroad. We are so nervous about the challenges that we may face in our journey. My parents helped me to prepare my things. I got a checklist so that I can ensure that I won’t forget something because Davao to Indonesia is far. I make sure that all my basic needs and things that I will need in teaching is in my baggage. I bought some foods too so that I have stocks in case of emergency and if the store is far in my dormitory. I have a hard time in preparing my clothes if which I will bring because I’ve got 20kls only and I don’t want to exceed because another payment will be collected. I choose wisely my things and bring only the important stuffs. 11am is our call time to airport and I am late about 20 minutes. Our flight is still 2:30pm but we want to assure that everything is okay that’s why we are 3hrs advance in our flight.
Our first day in Bandung. We met already the other Sea-Teachers and we introduce ourselves to them. It feels like we will enjoy each other’s company. They are so friendly and approachable. We’ve been to Burma to have money exchanged and we are so surprised about the amount we’ve got. There is a big difference between our money in the Philippines and here in Indonesia. After that, we ate our breakfast and the food tasted good. We stayed at my friend’s room with our teachers to talk something about the culture here and taught us to be good and be responsible enough while we are here in Indonesia.
We had a welcome program in the University and we had a chance to meet the teachers, our coordinators and the supervisor. We had a chance to introduce ourselves and from what school we came from. They explain the purpose of SEAMEO and as well the benefits of this program. We are very much open for the new opportunities that we will experience in our journey here. They gave us an orientation and guide us about the environment and the culture here especially the concept of teaching the students. We started the program at 8am and it ended up successfully. We also had a chance to ride with their Odong-Odong to tour is in their school (UPI).
We have been to our assigned school. My school is in the SMP Lab School UPI. It’s near from our dormitory it is only a walking distance and it’s good for me so that I can save my money because I will not ride Angkot anymore. I met my mentorr, Mr. Eka and we had talked about our plans in the whole duration of the month. He assigned me to teach Grade 9 and it’s good for me. He introduced me to some of his class advisories and had a chance again to have a school-tour with my Sahabat Ulpah. I got a chance to teach Zumba with a 2 Physical Education professor which is also a coach in ASEAN game. I’m so overwhelmed about their comments to me and it’s my pleasure to have a good time with them
We had no class since the school had their activity and our coordinators tell us not to go to school in that day. So I have decided to have jogging in the morning and we are so lucky because we join a Zumba class beside our dormitory and we go to the Stadium. The stadium is very big and I had a 2 round jog and tried some of their equipment there.
It’s 2:30pm and this is it! We prepared ourselves and get ready for almost 4-hour travel. Our destination is Davao to Kuala Lumpor and Kuala Lumpor to Bandung. We have connecting flight. We stayed in Kuala Lumpor for almost 12 hours and then we decided to go the famous tourist spot there which is the “Twin Tower” I am very amazed about the place and I want to go there again. Our flight in Bandung is 6:30am but suddenly we experience delayed due to some problem but never mind as long as we arrived in Bandung safe and sound. Thank you Lord for blessing and guiding our trip. We fetch by our Sahabat (student buddy) Nessa and also Pak (Sir) Fachru.
