August 27-September 4, 2018

In the morning, they don’t have a class because they had a physical test. I witnessed how they test the strength, agility, endurance, speed and flexibility of the students. One company facilitated the program and they have high technology equipment so it can still be measured through the help of that tool. It’s amazing because that is my first time to saw that kind of equipment on testing your physical skills. In the afternoon, I assigned in Grade 7-D. I decided to apply to them my lesson during my final demonstration so that, if there are things that needed to be improve I can still change and fix it and if there are problems, I can be prepared for it. Our class had been ended so well, my students were really active and energetic.

Today, is my final demonstration and I’m really nervous!! Literally nervous but quite excited too. Last night, I rehearsed my lesson with the help of my co-delegates and they acted as my students. I prepared one lesson for my 5 classes. My final demonstration is on my second class at 9:20am to 11:40am. My topic is all about Lapay Bantigue, a Philippine Folk Dance. I decided to choose that because I’m done introducing the fundamental steps in folk dance, so I can now proceed to a one specific dance. Upon I entered in the classroom of my first class which is in the Grade 9-E, my heart were very heavy because that is my last day in teaching them. I explained to my students that next week, I will not be their P-E teacher and Pak Eka will be back as their teacher again. I know thru their eyes that they are sad too and as we go on in our discussion and activity we tried to enjoy our last meeting.

After my first class, I’m a little bit nervous because in my second class, it is time now for my final demonstration. I waiting for my coordinator, Pak Ricky, he is a P-E instructor in the college program. Before I started my class, he gave me advices and he said to me that “just be natural and be yourself” I tried to put that in my mind but I can’t deny that I’m really nervous and my heart beats really fast.

I started first with a prayer and after that, I prepared an activity which serves as their motivation before I proceed to my lesson proper. My activity is called “pass the ball” so we have a time goal that they have to pass the ball to the last person within 15 seconds, 12 seconds last level is 10 seconds. The purpose of this activity is to develop their unity and cooperation as a class. I didn’t expect with the outcome of the activity, they are so eager to reach the time goal, they are very energetic and good thing, they bit the 10 seconds goal.  They are so happy and because of their reactions, I didn’t feel any nervous that time. I am so confident that they will participate in my discussion and in my activities.

During my discussion, I have experience technical problem in my laptop, I didn’t expect it because I used my laptop every time I have a class and it works well. One of my student helped me but then, it’s still not okay so, I continued my discussion and gave them an activity within 5 minutes. So in that moment, I grab the opportunity to get the battery out and restart my laptop and after that, it’s now okay so, I can continue with my presentation. After this, we proceed immediately to the gym. My activity is to let my students perform the Lapay Bantigue. They find it awkward at first because of the steps, they laughed to each other but it’s natural with their age.

I talked to my students first before I dismiss the class. I thank all of them for their participation and I gave a simple token to show my gratitude to them. Some of them got teary eyed so as me. After I dismissed my class, my coordinator Pak Ricky at the same time my mentor Pak Eka gave me a feedback based on my performance. I’m overwhelmed with their comments.
